It maintains a conservative elegance, and seems to lack the clash of cultures and ethnicities that bring vibrancy to other parts of the city. This area, and the congruous Presidio Heights, stand as the stately front door of the Presidio.

Then: The Victorian and Edwardian homes indicate that residences were built here around the same time as those in Pacific Heights.

How To Get There: The 1-California Muni bus line goes directly through Laurel Heights, and the Sacramento Street shops are one block north. Parking is not difficult at all around this area.
